Summer Truffle
Description
Fruit-body sometimes partially surfacing, bulbous, Ø 3-10 cm. Outside densely covered with coarse, 5-6-angular, pyramid-shaped, furrowed warts, brownish-black to black.
Flesh firm, marble-like, pale grey-yellow, then dark brown, with irregular white veins.
Smell strong, pleasant. Taste mild.
Spore-print colour yellowish-brownish.
Occurrence
In broad-leaved and coniferous woods on calcareous, loamy soil.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
