Otidea cochleata

Description
Fruit-body bowl-shaped, split on one side down to the base, Ø 4-6 cm. Inner surface brown to dark olive-brown. Outer surface felted, lighter olive-brown, whitish hairy at the base. Occasionally growing closely together.

Occurrence
On clay or loam deficient in humus under broad-leaved trees.
Possibly forming ectomycorrhiza.
