Hare's Ear
(Golden Ear, or Lemon-peel Fungus)
Description
Fruit-body irregularly ear-shaped, 6-10 cm high. Inner surface ochrous- to orange-yellow, with pink tints when young. Outer surface scurfy-felted, somewhat wrinkly, salmon to ochrous-yellow. Flesh white.
Occurrence
Among litter and on soil deficient in humus, under broad-leaved trees, favouring Oak.
Possibly forming ectomycorrhiza.
