Description
Fruit-body 5-16 cm. Cap irregularly saddle-shaped to 3- or 4-lobed convoluted and folded, often with multiple tops, Ø 3-8 cm, surface undulating or with veins or dents, flesh-coloured to brown to cinnamon- or chestnut-brown.
Stem hollow, smooth or mealy, greyish white to flesh-coloured brown, sometimes with a lilac tinge, 2-9 x 1-2 cm. Flesh brittle, whitish.
Taste mild.
Occurrence
On litter or (buried) wood and sites of fires in coniferous woods. Autumn.
