Description
Fruit-body 5-16 cm. Cap 4-12 cm, irregularly round, brain-like convoluted, with 3 broad, deeply convoluted lobes, yellow-brown to red-brown, later grey-white pruinose.
Stem hollow or chambered, finely mealy, strongly pleated and furrowed, white or dingy white flesh-brown, 3-10 x 2-6 cm.
Poisonous.

Occurrence
On manured, bare soil or on litter under coniferous trees (pine), occasionally under broad-leaved trees. March to May.
