Shady Earth Tongue
Description
Fruit-body tongue- or club-shaped, 4-10 cm high. Upper part widening to 8 mm, finely clayey, matt grey-black to black, distinct from the stem. Stem clayey or finely clayey, matt brown-black to black, 2-6 cm x 2-7 mm.
Occurrence
In unmanured or hardly manured (dune) grasslands and roadsides, on dry sand deficient in lime, in peat bogs and marshland and in woods on dry or damp, poor sandy soil.
