Amanitas and related species

Species of the genus Limacella form a small group of Agarics with slimy-viscid caps and free gills, with a ring zone on the stipe. Spores white.

The amanitas of the genus Amanita form a group of Agarics with a universal veil, usually leaving warts or scales on the cap and/or a volva around the base of the stipe, and usually also a partial veil, remaining as a ring on the stipe, with free, white gills. Spores white (or pale green). Forming ectomycorrhiza (except Amanita inopinata).
