Description
Fruit-body complex, gelatinous brain-like, forming a thick, soft crust, 10-30 x 3-5 cm. Outer surface finely warty, shiny or dull, brown-black to black or blue-black. Flesh 5-15 mm thick, gelatinous, soft.

Occurrence
Common on dead branches of deciduous trees (Oak), often still attached to the tree. Throughout the year.
Saprophyte.
