Violet Conifer Bracket
Description
Less than 1cm: Use magnifying glass.
Fruit-body annual, leathery crust-like, with shelf-like, fan-shaped caps in rows. Cap protruding up to 2.5 cm. Upper surface concentrically zoned, hairy-felted to smooth, grey-whitish to brownish, often green due to algal growth, broadly attached, with acute, scored, pale margin. Pores 3-4 per mm, reticular to labyrinthine, dentate, violet to brown-violet or yellow-brown.
Spore-print colour white.
Occurrence
Common on trunks, stumps and branches of coniferous trees.
Saprophyte.
