Description
Fruit-body annual, bulb-shaped to bracket-like. Cap 4-10 x 2-5 cm, 2-4 cm thick. Upper surface finely felted to smooth, whitish to grey-yellow or grey-brown, with acute margin.
Tubes 6-10 mm long, whitish. Pores 4-5 per mm, circular to angular, white. Flesh crumbly, white. Smell sweetish, pungent. Taste mild.
Spore-print colour white.

Occurrence
Fairly common on trunks, stumps and branches of deciduous trees (Birch, Beech, Poplar).
Saprophyte.
