Description
Fruit-body perennial, hoof-shaped to bracket-like, Ø 10-15 x 10-20 cm, flesh brittle and soft, chalky white. Upper surface young without a crust, creamy-white, old with a cracked, thin crust, with undulate zones, grey to greyish black, margin obtuse, thick, creamy-white to brownish. Tubes 0,5 to 1 cm, cream-coloured to yellow-orange-brown. Pores circular to angular, 2-4 per mm, creamy-whitish to brownish.
Taste bitter, smell mushroomy.

Occurrence
On trunks of old larches.
Parasitic/saprophyte.
