Bjerkandera fumosa

Description
Fruit-body annual, single to imbricate, bracket-like caps. Cap 10-15 x 4-8 cm, 2-3 cm thick. Upper surface velvety, matt, usually not zoned, ochre- to coffee-brown, with acute, undulate, pale margin.
Tubes 2-4 mm long, brownish. Pores 2-4 per mm, circular to angular, whitish to cream, turning brownish when bruised. Flesh thick, fungous, ochre-brown. Smell pleasantly sweetish.
Spore-print colour white.

Occurrence
Common on stumps and trunks of deciduous trees.
