Phellinus tuberculosus

Description
Fruit-body perennial, hard, thick, cushion- to hoof-shaped, 3-10 cm. Upper surface smooth, matt, grey to reddish brown, often green due to algal growth. With several tube layers.
Tubes each layer 2-3 mm, rusty brown. Pores 4-5 per mm, circular, beige to cinnamon or grey-brown.
Spore-print colour white.

Occurrence
Not uncommon on trunks and on the underside of branches of fruit trees (Cherry, Apple, Pear) in orchards, public gardens and open woodland.
Parasitic.

Related and/or similar species
- Phellinus torulosus (Rare; Red Data List, ed. 1); on deciduous trees (Robinia).
