Dry Rot Fungus
Description
Fruit-body weak leathery crust-like, spreaded over several square decimetres. Hymenium felted, labyrinth- to net-shaped veined-furrowed, mustard-yellow to rusty brown or olive-brown, with a blunt, woolly-felted white rim zone, sometimes with up to 10 cm wide and 2 cm thick pale false caps. Smell when young pleasant, fungus-like, when old unpleasantly strong.
Spore-print colour yellow-brown.
Occurrence
On processed wood in buildings. It causes a serious brown-rot and it is able to spread itself over great distances, and even in dry conditions and through walls (via joints).
