Serpula himantioides

Description
Fruit-body soft leathery crust-like, spreading over several square decimetres. Upper surface felted, labyrinthine to reticular, veined-pleated, mustard-yellow to rusty brown or olive-brown, with woolly-felted, somewhat free, wide white marginal zone.
Spore-print colour yellow-brown.

Occurrence
On wood of coniferous trees in coniferous woods with poor soil.
Saprophyte.

Related and/or similar species
At present, the Dry Rot fungus, Serpula lacrymans, becomes more abundant than Serpula himantioides on processed wood in buildings.
