Description
Cap convex to plane or depresses funnel-shaped, Ø 5-7 cm, matt, slightly sticky when damp, brown-yellow to reddish brown, cracking, with pale brown cracks, with incurved margin when young.
Gills close, decurrent, partially forked, yellowish to ochrous brown, staining rusty brown on bruising.
Stem 5-6 x 1 cm, fibrous, reddish brown, staining dark on bruising, with tapering base. Flesh ochre, turning red-brown. Taste somewhat sour. Smell faint.
Suspect.
Occurrence
Near Elms in deciduous woods and windbreaks on damp, rich soil.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
