Alder-loving Bolete
Description
Cap convex, Ø 4-10 cm, sticky, matt, straw-colour to pale yellow-brown, with rusty brown tinge.
Tubes bright sulphur-yellow, turning green-blue to brownish. Pores large, angular, bright sulphur-yellow, turning dark blue-grey on bruising.
Stem 3-7 x 1-2 cm, pale yellow-brown, with vinaceous or brown tinge. Flesh whitish to rusty brown, turning bluish. Taste none. Smell faint.
Spore-print colour olive-brown.
Occurrence
Near Alder in deciduous woods and on wood edges or damp, rich loam or sand, occasionally in groups.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
