Description
Cap convex, Ø 4-8 cm, velvety, matt, olive-grey-yellow to pale brown.
Tubes bright yellow to greenish or brownish yellow. Pores wide, irregularly angular, occasionally dentate, bright yellow.
Stem 6-9 cm x 15-20 mm, finely granular, longitudinally red-brown fibrous on pale yellow background. Flesh whitish yellow. Taste mild. Smell fruity.
Spore-print colour ochrous to olive-brown.
Edible.

Occurrence
Fairly common near deciduous trees in mixed woods and along roadsides lined with trees on poor, sandy soil deficient in humus.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
