Description
Cap convex to depressed flattened, Ø 7-9 cm, matt, red to wine-red-brown or dark purple-violet.
Gills close, lemon-yellow to butter-yellow, milking when young.
Stem 6-8 x 1.5-2 cm, white-silvery velvety pruinose, light wine-red-brown to purple violet. Flesh white to pale yellow. Taste spicy and hot. Smell fruity.
Spore-print colour cream to light ochre.
Poisonous.
Occurrence
Not uncommon near coniferous trees (Fir) in coniferous woods on sandy soil.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
