Russula paludosa

Description
Cap convex to plane, Ø 8-10 cm, apple-pink or apple-red to orange-brown or pale orange.
Gills close, partially forked, whitish to butter-yellow or ochre, with red edge.
Stem 7-9 x 1.5-2.5 cm, finely veined-grooved, white, occasionally with red hue, often grey at the base. Flesh white. Taste mild, sweetish, gills pungent.
Spore-print colour butter-yellow to light ochre.
Edible.

Occurrence
Near coniferous trees (Fir, Spruce, Larch) in old woodland.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
