Description
Cap convex to flattened with a depressed centre, Ø 5-15 cm, greasy shiny when moist, dull when dry, sometimes unicoloured, mostly with a mix of pink or greyish lilac, wine-coloured, purple, yellowish-greenish to completely green (forma peltereaui).
Gills close to each other, narrowly attached to somewhat declined, sometimes forked, whitish to pale cream, feeling greasy and flexible.
Stem 5-10 x 1.5-3 cm, white, sometimes with a purple shade. Flesh white. Taste mild. Smell faint.
Spore-print colour whitish.
Edible.

Occurrence
Near deciduous and coniferous trees in lanes and forests on acidic and calcareous sand and loam soils.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
