Yellowish Zoned Milk-cap


Description
Cap flat vaulted with a depressed centre, Ø 3-7 cm, smooth, matt pale yellow to ochre-yellow with a somewhat orange centre, with faint concentric zones and a whitish enrolled rim.
Gills somewhat declined, whitish cream to cream-yellow.
Stem 3-4.5 x 1-1.5 cm, smooth, matt, whitish to ochre-yellow. Flesh whitish, turning orange, milk white when damaged. Taste very sharp. Smell after apples.
Spore-print colour, cream-ochre.

Occurrence
Near Poplars on heavy clay and near Abeles in calcareous dunes.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
