Description
Cap convex to shallowly or flattened funnel-shaped, Ø 3-8 cm, dry, matt, with concentric blotches, pale to greyish red-brown with cinnamon tinge.
Gills slightly decurrent, brown-white to pale red-brown with lilac tinge.
Stem 4-9 cm x 10-15 mm, matt, often grooved, pale greyish red-brown. Flesh whitish brown-yellow, milk white to cream. Taste mild to bitter. Smell of cod-liver oil, or of bugs.
Spore-print colour cream.
Suspect.

Occurrence
Common near Oak in woods and avenues.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
