Coconut-scented Milk-cap
Description
Cap irregularly convex to shallowly funnel-shaped, occasionally with papilla, Ø 2-6 cm, pale grey-lilac to dull yellow-brown.
Gills close, decurrent, pale yellowish or flesh to greyish lilac.
Stem 2-6 x 0.5-1 cm, soft, brittle, pale grey-lilac or yellow-brown. Flesh yellow-brown, milk white. Taste mild to pungent. Smell of coconut.
Spore-print colour creamy white.
Occurrence
Common near Birch on poor sand or peat.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
