Lactarius hemicyaneus

Description
Cap flattened vaulted with a somewhat depressed centre, Ø 4-7 cm, white frosted, pale reddish to dark brown, with a zonated, enrolled rim.
Gills close to each other, declining, grey orange red.
Stem 3-6 x 1-2 cm, frosted, pale reddish to dark brown, orange patched, turning green to wine red when bruised. Flesh bluish green to orange, milk orange, flesh turning green by the milk. Taste lightly sharp. Smell acidic.
Spore-print pale ochre.
Edible.

Occurrence
Near Pine on nutrient-rich, calcareous clay of loam (loam pits).
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
