Yellow Milk-cap
Description
Cap convex to funnel-shaped, Ø 3-8 cm, concentrically zoned, pale salmon to pink-yellow, with dark, water spots.
Gills close, decurrent, yellow-brown with pink tinge.
Stem 3-8 x 1-2 cm, whitish to pale yellow-brown, with pink tinted base. Flesh whitish, milk abundant, white, rapidly turning sulphur-yellow. Taste bitter, pungent.
Spore-print colour pale cream.
Occurrence
Fairly common near deciduous trees (Oak) in deciduous woods and avenues on poor sandy and loamy soil.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
