Xerula radicata

Description
Cap bell-shaped, then flattened convex with a wide umbo, Ø 5-8 smooth, radially wrinkled, pale ochrous to hazel.
Gills white.
Stem 8-20 cm x 5-10 mm, yellow-brown, white, striped at the apex, and grey-brown base rooting up to 10 cm deep. Flesh white. Taste faintly fruity.
Suspect.

Occurrence
Common at the base of or on the roots of beech, usually some distance away from the tree.
Saprophyte; parasitic?
