Plums & Custard
(Purple and Yellow Agaric, or Red-haired Agaric)
Description
Cap convex to expanded with broad umbo, Ø 4-12 cm, with orange-red or wine red to purple, woolly fibrils on a yellow background, fibrous at the margin.
Gills golden yellow.
Stem 3-12 x 1-3 cm, yellow, with downy orange-red or wine red to purple scales. Flesh pale yellow to cream. Smell faintly nutty.
Occurrence
Common on coniferous trunks and stumps in coniferous and mixed woods on sandy soil.

- Tricholomopsis decora, Decorated Mop [USA], a very rare species.
