Description
Cap vaulted to flattened with a blunt bump, Ø 5-10 cm, smooth, weakly sticky, black radially fibrous on a dark grey brown back ground with yellowish, green of violet shades and with a sharp upcurved rim.
Gills broad and somewhat tortuous attached, white.
Stem 5-8 x 1-3 cm, white, with longitudinal fibres, yellow brown to olive-brown patched. Flesh white to watery grey, sometimes turning somewhat yellow. Taste mild. Smell faint, flour-like.

Occurrence
Near conifer and deciduous trees (Scots Pine, Oak, Beech) in conifer forests on very nutrient deficient dry acidic, humus deficient sand soil, especially on drift-sand.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
