Description
Cap convex, then expanded, Ø 4-8 cm, sticky when damp, chestnut, with creamy white margin.
Gills creamy white, staining rusty brown.
Stem 4-9 cm x 10-15 mm, fibrous, red-brown, paler at the apex. Flesh creamy white, staining brown. Smell faint, flour-like.
Poisonous.

Occurrence
Not uncommon near beech in avenues and deciduous woods on sandy or loamy soil.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
