Firwood Agaric
Description
Cap conical, then expanded, Ø 5-8 cm, bright yellow with light olive-brown, scaly centre.
Gills sulphur-yellow to lemon-yellow.
Stem 5-10 cm x 8-12 mm, pale yellow, with brownish scales. Flesh whitish yellow. Smell faint.
For some people fatally poisonous.
Occurrence
Near Fir in coniferous woods on dry, poor soil deficient in humus.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
