White Knight Cap
Description
Cap bell-shaped convex, the irregularly expanded, Ø 7-9 cm, matt, white with straw-yellow centre, staining yellow when damp.
Gills white with pink tinge.
Stem 6-8 cm x 10-15 mm, white pruinose at the apex, white with pink tinge. Flesh whitish cream. Smell unpleasant, earthy smell.
Suspect.
Occurrence
Near deciduous trees (Birch, Oak) in deciduous and mixed woods and avenues on sandy or clayey soil.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
