Description
Cap conical to bell-shaped with umbo, Ø 2-4 cm, striped, grey-brown to red-brown with dingy pink tinge when damp; matt, pale pink when dry, with dentate margin.
Gills adnate, white to pale pink.
Stem 4-10 cm x 2-3 mm, grey-pink to red-brown, exuding a blood-red milk when damaged. Flesh blood-red. Smell none.

Occurrence
Common on dead wood and bark of (living) deciduous trees, occasionally on wood of coniferous trees. Usually in tufts or clusters. Summer to autumn.
Saprophyte.
