Description
Cap hemispherical to irregularly expanded with depressed centre, Ø 15-35 mm, radially furrowed, darkly striped, smooth, dark red-brown to beige-brown.
Gills broad, dingy light red-brown.
Stem 2-5 cm x 2-4 mm, finely velvety, light red-brown, at the apex and black-brown at the base. Flesh membranous, cartilaginous, reddish brown. Smell disagreeable.

Occurrence
On branches and twigs of deciduous trees (Hazel) in deciduous woods on dry, calcareous loam or clay.
Saprophyte.
