Description
Cap convex to expanded, Ø 6-10 cm, smooth, hygrophanous, ochre-brown when damp, paler when dry, with overhanging margin.
Gills thin, dense, whitish-cream or pale beige to salmon- or ochre-yellow.
Stem 6-9 x 1-2 cm, cream-beige, upper portion downy, lower portion downy-felty. Flesh in the cap soft, in the stem fibrous, whitish-cream.
Taste mild.
Spore-print colour pale yellow.

Occurrence
Mostly in spring, sometimes in autumn, on coarse litter, wood chips, drying mud and compost in broad-leaved and coniferous woods and parks on humus and rich soil.
Saprophyte.
