Cucumber-scented Mushroom

Description
Cap hemispherical to convex, Ø 2-4 cm, velvety to smooth, red-brown to dark brown, with a sorrel-red to yellowish, translucent striped margin.
Gills sinuate with a tooth, whitish cream to flesh.
Stem 4-6 cm x 4-5 mm, velvety, reddish brown to dark brown or black-brown. Flesh cream to brownish. Smell of cod-liver oil.
Spore-print colour pale ochre.
Occurrence
Not uncommon on humus and leaf litter in deciduous woods, parks, public gardens and roadsides on rich sand or clay.
Saprophyte.
