Smoky Funnel Cap
Description
Cap convex to irregularly plane, Ø 3-13 cm, smooth, matt, light to dark yellowish or hazel.
Gills light cream to pale brown.
Stem 3-10 x 6-15 mm, striped, pruinose at the apex, whitish or cream to light brown, ending in a common swollen bulb-shaped base. Flesh whitish to brownish. Smell somewhat sour.
Edible.
Occurrence
Not uncommon on buried wood or stumps and roots of deciduous trees in woods, parks and avenues on rich soil. Usually in dense clusters.
