Description
Cap convex to irregularly plane with umbo, Ø 6-15 cm, smooth, with a lubricous gloss, grey to hazel.
Gills whitish.
Stem 5-18 x 1-2 cm, often twisted, striped, pruinose at the apex, whitish to greyish whitish. Flesh tough, white. Smell none.
Edible.
Occurrence
Common, usually on buried wood or on stumps and roots of deciduous trees in woods, parks and avenues on rich soil. Usually in clusters.
