Description
Cap hemispherical, then expanded, Ø 5-10 cm, slightly sticky, matt when dry, smooth to finely floccose-scaly, spotted or streaked wine red on a white to pink background, with white margin.
Gills white, with purple wine red blotches.
Stem 4-8 cm x 15-22 mm, dry, purple-red fibrous or with blotches on a white background. Flesh white to pine. Smell pleasant, fruity.
Occurrence
Near Oak and Beech in old woods and avenues.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
