Description
Cap hemispherical to convex, Ø 7-12 cm, slimy, brown with dark centre and white margin.
Gills thick, broad, distant, milky-white with grey-green tinge.
Stem 9-10 cm x 10-15 mm, mealy-floccose, white at the apex, with patches and bands of brown slime towards the tapering, rooting base. Flesh white. Smell musty.
Occurrence
Near Quercus robur in deciduous woods on humus-rich calcareous sand or river clay.
Forming ectomycorrhiza.
