False Chanterelle
Description
Cap vaulted to shallowly funnel-shaped, Ø 2-8 cm, fine fluffy, matt, orange yellow, with a paler, enrolled rim.
Gills forked, inclined, orange.
Stem 3-5 cm x 5-10 mm, often bent, orange yellow. Flesh tough, yellow to orange. Taste fungous. Smell fungous.
Spore-print colour white.
Suspect.
Occurrence
On wood, needles and leaves in coniferous and mixed forest on nutricient deficient soils.
Saprophyte.
