Marram-culm Toadstool
Description
Cap spatula- to shell-shaped, Ø 10-25 mm, felted, matt, grey-white to dark or black-brown.
Gills whitish grey to creamy pale ochre, occasionally with brown to grey-black edge.
Stem 2-10 x 2-6 mm, eccentric, white-felted, grey-white to dark brown. Flesh white. Taste flour-like. Smell faint, flour-like.
Occurrence
On the base of the upright stems of Marram grass (Ammophila arenaria) in the outer coastal sand dunes.
Saprophyte. (Parasitic).
