Collybia butyracea var. butyracea
Description
Cap convex to plane, Ø 3-7 cm, lubricous-greasy, smooth, brown or reddish brown to dark ochrous yellow, drying creamy brown to ivory, with light, striped margin.
Gills free, close, whitish.
Stem 3-5 cm x 5-10 mm, tough, reddish brown to ochrous yellow, with white, woolly hairs and swollen base. Flesh whitish yellow. Smell faintly rancid.
Edible.
Occurrence
Common on course litter of deciduous trees (Oak, Birch, Beech) and coniferous trees (Spruce, Fir, Larch) in woods, avenues and parks on poor sand or loam.
