Saint George's Mushroom
Description
Cap globose, then convex to expanded, Ø 5-15 cm, white to beige, with incurved margin.
Gills close, whitish.
Stem 3-7 cm x 10-25 mm, white. Flesh soft, white. Smell flour-like.
Edible.
Occurrence
On the ground on wood edges and in shrubberies on calcareous humus-rich sandy soil.
Saprophyte.
