Yellow Honey Fungus
Description
Cap obtusely conical, then expanded, Ø 5-18 cm, yellowish-brown to olive-green, with brown scales.
Gills white.
Stem 8-15 x 2-3 cm, whitish-woolly, ochrous yellow-brown, with yellow velar remnants on the evanescent, whitish ring and on the stem, bulb-shaped base swollen, becoming olive-green. Flesh white. Smell faint, musty.
Occurrence
Common on wood, both buried and above ground, and on dead parts or at the base of especially deciduous trees on rich soil. Singly or in groups.
