Psilocybe muscorum

Description
Cap hemispherical to convex with umbo, Ø 5-14 mm, sticky, shiny, red-brown when damp; matt, ochrous beige to pale beige-brown when dry.
Gills dingy cream to dark brown.
Stem 15-25 x 1-2 mm, longitudinally white-fibrous, grey-brown. Flesh light grey-brown. Taste mild. Smell faint.

Occurrence
Not uncommon among mosses and grass in sand drifts, poor grasslands and gardens on dry, poor sandy soil. In groups. Spring to autumn.
Saprophyte.

Related and/or similar species
Can only be distinguished with certainty from Psilocybe montana and a few other small Psilocybe species by microscopic features.
