Mountain Moss Psilocybe
Description
Cap hemispherical, Ø 4-12 mm, striped, dark brown when damp; matt, ochrous to beige when dry, with velar remnants at the margin when young.
Gills cream to dark purple-brown.
Stem 15-20 x 1 mm, longitudinally white-fibrous, grey-ochre. Flesh whitish to grey-brown. Taste mild. Smell faint, spicy.
Poisonous.
Occurrence
Fairly common among mosses in sand drifts, poor (dune) pastures and heaths on dry, sandy soil. Often in groups. Summer to autumn.
