Burnt ground Scale Head
(Carbon Agaric, Charcoal Scale Head, or Viscid Flammula)
Description
Cap convex to plane, Ø 2-5 cm, smooth, sticky-shiny, ochre-brown to red-brown, with whitish scales and paler at the margin.
Gills pale beige to cinnamon.
Stem 2-5 cm x 3-7 mm, finely woolly-fibrous, pale yellowish above the ring zone, whitish, reddish brown at the base.
Occurrence
Fairly common on dead, burnt wood (coniferous trees, Heather) on bonfire sites.
Saprophyte.
