Description
Cap convex to expanded, Ø 5-15 cm, slimy-shiny, golden yellow with dark yellow-brown centre and adpressed, brown scales.
Gills pale yellow to rusty brown.
Stem 6-15 x 1-2 cm, usually curved, fibrous, pale yellow to yellow-brown, scaly below the evanescent, floccose ring when young. Flesh tough, pale yellow.
Occurrence
Fairly common on living trunks of deciduous trees, favouring Beech, often at great height at wound areas on the trunk. Tufted.
Parasitic.
