Description
Cap convex to expanded, Ø 5-15 cm, straw-yellow to golden yellow, with fine and coarse upturned, red-brown scales, and incurved margin.
Gills close, pale yellow to cinnamon.
Stem 5-15 cm x 10-25 mm, smooth, pale yellow at the apex, below the thorn, membranous ring upturned, red-brown scales, red-brown or occasionally white-felted at the base. Flesh tough, yellowish to red-brown. Taste of radish. Smell of straw.

Occurrence
Common on deciduous trees, rarely on coniferous trees, in woods, parks and public gardens. Tufted.
Parasitic.
